I was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1975. Upon graduating from the University of Vienna, I worked as a physician in training at different Viennese hospitals, among them St. Anna Children´s Hospital, an academic centre for pediatric haematology.
In 2002, I joined the Clinical Division of Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna where I work closely with other breast cancer specialists within the Austrian Breast and Colorectal Study Group (ABCSG). From 2009 to 2010, I was the director of the breast centre at the Elisabethinen Hospital Linz. Since 2010, I have been an associate professor of medicine at the Medical University of Vienna and currently serve as director of the metastatic breast cancer program and co-director of the brain metastases program. Furthermore, I'm a member of the ABCSG executive committee.
Apart from clinical research in the field of breast cancer and brain metastases, my main scientific interest is the identification of resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies. I have published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, among them Clinical Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Lancet Oncology.
